BPI Honors Excellence in Talent Management and Thought Leadership

The Best Practice Institute (BPI) has recognized two top talent management executives and three leading business thinkers with its prestigious Values Awards and Thought Leader Awards. The honors were presented during the BPI Senior Executive Board meeting in Atlanta, hosted at the global headquarters of Novelis, Inc.

"This is our chance to put the spotlight on those who are on the cutting edge of talent management and business leadership," said Louis Carter, founder and CEO of Best Practice Institute. "This is not only a way to express our appreciation for outstanding work, but to signal to our thousands of BPI members that these are the leaders who are pioneering the next practices in this industry."

    BPI Values Awards

The inaugural BPI Values Awards were presented to Leslie Joyce, Senior Vice President and Chief People Officer of Novelis, Inc., and Brian Bules, Head of Global Talent Solutions and Effectiveness at GlaxoSmithKline. Both are longtime members of BPI's Senior Executive Board.

This award recognizes talent management leaders who exemplify the seven core values of the BPI Senior Executive Board:

    • Transparency
    • Positive feedback
    • Leadership
    • Appreciative practice
    • Confidentiality
    • Accountability
    • Being a pioneer

Carter noted the special significance of the award, stating, "The best praise a corporate leader can ever get is to be singled out for recognition by one's counterparts at other companies."

    Top Thought Leader Awards

BPI also presented its Top Thought Leader Awards to three influential figures in business philosophy and practice.

    • Bob Nelson, President of Nelson Motivation Inc. and author of 1501 Ways to Reward Employees.
    • Daryl Conner, Chairman of Conner Partners and author of Managing at the Speed of Change.
    • Jonah Berger, Associate Professor of Marketing at Wharton and author of Contagious: Why Things Catch On.

This award honors scholars, authors, and innovators who have distinguished themselves as provocateurs in business, following in the footsteps of previous winners like Edgar Schein, John Kotter, and Warner Burke.
