Why this role exists
Best Practice Institute and Most Loved Workplace® publish workplace research, rankings and certifications. We run a portfolio of AI-built web apps and sites: an employer-certification assessment app, an AI-visibility app for employer brands, our research site and our rankings site. We also deliver SEO and answer-engine optimization (AEO) to client companies. Leadership should never have to check the sites themselves — this role makes that true.
What you'll do
- AI-assisted app operations: turn requests and bugs into clear prompts for AI builders, review the diff (code, data and config) before anything ships, and reject changes that touch more than was asked
- Publish, then verify live on the production URL: the page renders, forms submit, emails send, tracking fires, meta and schema are present in the served HTML, and there are no request loops or console errors
- Apply engineering-specified back-end changes (database migrations, edge/serverless functions) exactly as written; run regression checks and a security scan before sharing; escalate architecture work to the engineering lead
- Keep test data out of production and fix what AI builders tend to break (dropped meta tags, client-only rendering, duplicated routes, broken images and logos); keep a change log of what changed, why, who asked and how it was verified
- Release QA: run a pre- and post-release checklist for every change on every property (links, forms, tracking, meta, schema, redirects, mobile, performance)
- Weekly end-to-end test of each app: send real transactional emails and confirm inbox delivery, check the email provider (keys, DNS, bounces, suppressions, backlog), force-test failure alerts, and walk the core flows (sign up, assess, generate report, book)
- Technical SEO across all properties: titles, meta and OG tags, canonicals, robots and noindex rules, proper 404 handling, XML sitemaps, redirects, internal linking and Core Web Vitals
- Structured data (Organization, Article, FAQ, Breadcrumb, Dataset and more where valid) deployed from a shared entity registry and validated after every release; Search Console ownership for every property
- AI answer-engine readiness and visibility: AI-crawler robots rules, llms.txt, entity pages, and tracking how our brands are cited in Google AI Overviews, ChatGPT, Perplexity, Gemini and Copilot
- Keyword and opportunity research turned into a short ranked list of pages to build or fix; backlink monitoring and disavow hygiene; SEO sign-off on migrations and consolidations
- Lead-flow integrity between our apps and HubSpot: forms, webhooks, UTMs, deal creation, lifecycle stages and scheduled jobs — nothing gets stuck, and failures alert within a day
- Booking sync and sequence suppression: nobody who has booked a meeting keeps getting “book a call” emails; meeting outcomes, no-show follow-ups and duplicate records kept clean
- Email deliverability: send limits, warm-up, bounce and complaint rates, suppression lists, and no sends to test addresses
- Measurement: GA4, Google Tag Manager and Search Console on every property with key events firing, and one trusted funnel from visit → assessment → report → meeting → opportunity → paid certification
- Google for Jobs: valid JobPosting markup on single-job pages only, with real dates, employer-provided pay and prompt expiry; Indexing API used only for job pages and within quota
- Data accuracy: no invented data in markup, profiles or reports — every published claim traces to a source record, and missing fields stay blank rather than guessed
- Security, reputation and cost hygiene: weekly security and reputation checks across all domains, content-quality gates, monthly hosting and background-job cost reviews, and least-privilege access
- Technical support for client AEO/SEO work: audits of client career and profile pages, schema standards, and the data pipelines behind client visibility reports
- Every Monday, one plain-language written summary to leadership — what changed, what broke, what was fixed, what's at risk, what it cost and decisions needed — with a red/amber/green site-health page
What we measure you on
- First 30 days: access and asset inventory written, first weekly ops summary and end-to-end app test delivered, lead-flow audit done, and a baseline audit of every property
- By day 60: every release goes through the checklist and live verification; zero booked prospects receiving booking-prompt emails; top technical SEO issues fixed; valid job markup on every live single-job page
- By day 90: one funnel report from visit to paid certification with the largest drop-offs and tests running; measurable gains in indexed pages and AI-answer presence; runbooks for every app and integration
- Weekly ops summary, site-health report and end-to-end app test delivered on time, every week
- 100% of releases verified live; zero regressions or data errors found by leadership instead of by QA
- Zero stuck or unsynced leads older than 24 hours; ≥98% transactional email delivery with failures alerted within 24 hours
- ≥99% of sitemap URLs returning 200; zero critical structured-data or job-report errors; zero expired jobs still live with markup
- Zero invented or unsourced values in markup, profiles or rankings; no high-severity security findings open longer than 7 days
- Hosting and background-job cost at or below baseline; organic sessions, AI-answer presence and organic-sourced leads up each quarter
What you bring
- Hands-on operation of AI app builders (Lovable, Floot, Bolt, v0, Replit or similar) with live work you can show — you can read a React/TypeScript diff, spot what an AI change broke, and verify it in production
- Technical SEO on JavaScript or custom-built sites: rendering and indexing, sitemaps, canonicals, noindex/404 handling, redirects, structured data and migrations
- HubSpot operations and marketing automation: forms, workflows, sequences, lifecycle stages, deduplication, webhooks or the API, with a record of fixing broken lead flow
- Email deliverability basics: send limits, suppression, bounces, and transactional email providers (e.g. Resend, SendGrid, Postmark)
- GA4, GTM and Search Console setup and troubleshooting — not just reporting
- AEO / AI answer-engine optimization: a method and data for measuring and improving AI-answer presence
- Google for Jobs / JobPosting markup kept valid on live job pages, including expiry and the Indexing API
- A QA and data-accuracy mindset: checklists, before-and-after testing, change logs, and no guessing data
- Plain-language writing: a weekly summary a CEO can read in three minutes
- Nice to have: Supabase/Postgres, serverless functions, Cloudflare, basic SQL, n8n/Zapier/Make, Semrush or Ahrefs APIs, Screaming Frog, B2B/HR tech or publisher experience, HubSpot or Google certifications
How to apply
Entry is an approximately 60-day paid contract, with conversion to full-time employment if both sides agree. To apply, send a resume plus links to two live AI-built sites or apps you maintain and one before-and-after SEO or AEO result with data. No cover letter required.
