What is the Love of Workplace Index™ (LOWI)?
The Love of Workplace Index™ (LOWI) is an employee sentiment survey that measures emotional connectedness and organizational commitment. Unlike traditional engagement surveys, LOWI measures whether the structural conditions for sustained performance and retention exist. It uses machine-learning powered sentiment analysis and is the instrument that determines Most Loved Workplace® Certification.
How does the LOWI™ Index work?
LOWI collects direct employee sentiment across the five SPARK dimensions, combines scaled responses with analysis of open-ended employee comments, and compares results with BPI's benchmark dataset.
How does a company become Most Loved Workplace® certified?
Companies administer the LOWI™ survey to their employees, receive a SPARK analysis across the five validated dimensions, and — if they meet the threshold — earn Most Loved Workplace® Certification. Certified companies become eligible for the annual Top 100 Most Loved Workplaces® benchmarks (Global and America's), featured in The Wall Street Journal, Newsweek (2021–2025), and The Economist. BPI was also named data partner for Forbes America's Best Companies 2025.
